Ultrasound
Plains Veterinary Hospital not only offers x-ray and chemical lab analysis on site, but they also provide ultrasound services as well. Ultrasound is the use of high-frequency sound waves emitted into the body to produce an internal image of the patient. Our experienced veterinarians can measure the size of the liver, kidneys, heart and even the uterus of a female animal. Ultrasound is useful in identifying the presence of cancerous tumors, cystic masses, and cardiovascular failure. Fluid can also be located, which can be lifesaving in determining blood around the heart or in the abdomen in an emergency situation. Ultrasound is a safe and accurate tool when our veterinarians are searching for a problem area that is not readily identified by physical examination or x-ray films.
In continuing to provide state-of-the-art equipment for the pets of the Zachary, Louisiana area, the ultrasound unit at Plains Veterinary Hospital is no exception. We hope to be the veterinary hospital for the life of your pet!
